To all Atlantic Cape Community College Education Association members:  All activities planned for next week in support of negotiation are cancelled. The ACCC Education Association has declared a state of emergency.   Next week on Tuesday, August 23rd, we are attending the Board of Trustees meeting.  Following that, there will be a GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING for ALL units to discuss negotiations.  Your attendance at both is of the utmost importance.

We will assemble in upper J-building between 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM.  (There will be pizza.)  The board meeting starts at 7:00.  Please wear red to show your support.  Following our comments to the board, we will assemble for a general membership meeting (location TBA).  At that meeting, we will present our plans going forward and tell you how your participation will be needed.

As most of you know, Nick Ganaway was seriously injured last week and remains hospitalized. Many of you have asked, “Is there anything I can do to help Nick or his family at this time?” ACCCEA has decided the answer is, “Yes!” We are taking a collection for Nick’s family for any incidental costs they are incurring during this difficult time. These incidentals can include anything from food while spending numerous hours at the hospital; to gas, tolls, parking, etc. If you would like to help out the family we will be collecting monies until the end of business on Thursday, August 18th. We apologize, but at this time we can only accept cash donations as we will be giving it to the family early Friday morning. You can bring your donation to Sandi Greco in K112 or Michelle Perkins in D138.

Well, it’s been more than a month and we haven’t heard from the Board of Trustees.  So, you need to remind them that we are still here.  We wish all members to attend the Board meeting on August 23 at 7 PM in Mays Landing in J202.  Please help to spread the word around campus and stay tuned to the blog for more details.

I still see emails from the college requesting that we volunteer our time.  I wish to remind everyone that we are working without a contract and that the college seems to be in no hurry to give us one.  Sticking to the contract and not volunteering your time are two ways to remind the college of how hard you work and how important you are!   They should be reminded at every opportunity.
