Error in Contract Language

March 5th, 2008

We have identified an error in the printed contract. The error involves Dental Benefits on page (40). There is a reference to preventive and diagnostic care that states that this type of care IS NOT included in your $75.00 deductible. That information is incorrect. That language was changed in January, 2004. The correct language should read that diagnostic and preventive maintenance IS included in your deductible.

Here is the language as it appears in our current contract document:

A deductible amount of $75 per employee and up to $225 per family shall be applied, per calendar year, for dental care other than preventive and diagnostic services. (Pg-40)

Here is the corrected language as it should appear in our current contract document:

Effective January 1, 2004 a deductible amount of $75 per employee and up to $225 per family shall be applied, per calendar year, for dental care including preventive and diagnostic services.

Although we proofed this document several times, we failed to pick-up the error. Note that as of March 1, 2008, we have agreed to re-instate the correct language.

Thank you for your understanding.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

For any of you planning ahead, Friday, July 4th will be a holiday. Thursday, July 3rd will be our flex day off that week. Summer classes will be in session on July 3rd, so some employees may be required to work to support the classes. Any employee asked to work on July 3rd will be given an alternate flex day off.

Calling Out Sick Prior to a College Holiday

May 30th, 2007

Please be aware that our new contract language is the same as our old contract language regarding calling out sick one day prior to a College holiday. The contract language reads:

“A SSAACCC member shall not be compensated for a sick day taken one day prior to a College holiday. This shall include a Friday before a weekend holiday. Two or more sick days taken prior to a College holiday may require written physician’s certification.”

This language is on page 47 in the SSAACCC 2002-2006 contract. If you have any questions regarding this language please feel free to contact Ed or Michelle for further clarification.

Monday, December 24th

May 15th, 2007

Management and the Association met this afternoon to discuss Monday, December 24th. Currently the college is scheduled to be open that day. However, Management is willing to split the day with us in order to give employees that day off to be included in the Holiday break. For 35 hour SSAACCC members, you will be required to give 3 1/2 hours of vacation time, and Management will give 3 1/2 hours. For 40 hour SSAACCC members, you will be required to give 4 hours of vacation time, and Management will give 4 hours. You will not need to submit a slip for this time. It will be automatically deducted. Please plan accordingly.
